Man stabbed in fight over food

A man wound up in the hospital over the weekend after being stabbed during an argument over food, according to authorities.

Cpl. Brad Summerlin, public information officer of the Rocky Mount Police Department, said police are searching for Jimmie Bell, 50, who will be charged with assault with a deadly weapon and inflicting serious bodily injury. Summerlin said Bell is the suspect in an aggravated assault case in which he is accused of stabbing a 32-year-old manm about 10:45 p.m. Sunday inside a house in the 2500 block of Dalton Road.

“They were in the home arguing over food, and the subject pulled out a knife on the victim and stabbed him,” Summerlin said.

Summerlin said the victim was transported to Nash UNC Health Care and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
