Woman shot at gas station

A 31-year-old woman was shot early Sunday morning at the Sheetz gas station on the 1600 block of Benvenue Road.

Jalencia Mills was struck by a bullet during a shooting at about 2:43 a.m. Sunday in the Sheetz parking lot. The police report listed her as having internal injuries.

Mills was transported to Nash UNC Health Care and later transferred to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, where she was treated and released.

Cpl. Brad Summerlin of the Rocky Mount Police Department said the police have a suspect in mind but are not yet releasing a description of the suspect. The investigation is ongoing.
