Business owner robbed at gunpoint

Rocky Mount police are looking for two suspects who allegedly robbed a man on Friday in the parking lot of a local business on North Fairview Road.

Aletre Pittman, digital evidence management officer for the Rocky Mount Police Department, said the 62-year-old owner of a local fish market was robbed by two men wearing masks with at least one of the suspects brandishing a handgun at about 8:10 p.m. Friday in the parking lot of the business in the 300 block of North Fairview Road, according to a police report.

Pittman said the victim wasn’t injured and was robbed by the suspects as he was putting items in his vehicle when he was about to leave. According to the report, the suspects stole a Dell laptop valued at $300, more than $3,000 in cash, two backpacks valued at $50, a wallet and several credit cards.

Pittman said the suspects fled on foot in an unknown direction and officers are following up on leads in the case.
