Deputies charge two suspects with assault

The Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday that two suspects have been arrested in connection with an assault that occurred July 6.
According to a press release, the Sheriff’s Office received a call about 4 a.m. on July 6 from Nash General Hospital stating that a patient had been admitted who had been assaulted. When deputies arrived, they found a white man who had suffered a head wound. The victim was transferred to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville for treatment. At this time, his age and condition are unknown and he has not been identified.
An investigation by the Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Department revealed that the victim had been struck by a baseball bat in the head and the incident had occurred in Edgecombe County. As a result of the investigation, deputies arrested and charged two Rocky Mount residents.
Dylon Joyner, 30, was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill. He was jailed under a $100,000 secured bond in the Edgecombe County Detention Center.
Haley Bryant, 22, was arrested and charged as an accessory after the fact to assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill. She was jailed under a $50,000 bond in the Edgecombe County Detention Center.
