Authorities captured a suspect accused of robbing a bank Friday afternoon in Red Oak, according to a press release from the Nash County Sheriff’s Office.

Nash County Chief Deputy Brandon Medina said Michael Scott King, 36, was arrested and taken into custody without incident after he robbed the Southern Bank at about 3 p.m. Friday at 8315 Red Oak Road.

After King allegedly fled the scene of the robbery, the Nash County Sheriff’s Office issued a be-on-the-lookout alert to surrounding law enforcement agencies about King driving a 2015 Nissan Altima.

King, who has various addresses in Nash, Wake and Johnston counties, was located in Kenly by the Kenly Police Department. A chase ensued, and Kenly police deployed stop stocks to bring King’s vehicle to a halt.

Nash County Sheriff’s Office investigators responded to Kenly to conduct further interviews and take King into custody.

The Southern Bank in Red Oak also was robbed in March 2017, causing two Nash-Rocky Mount schools to be temporarily put on lockdown.
