Police investigate hit-and-run

Police are seeking more information about an unusual hit-and-run incident.
The incident took place about 2:10 p.m. Saturday on the 400 block of Hammond Road. A 67-year-old man and a 66-year-old woman reported that they were at the intersection of Hammond Road and Grace Street when the vehicle traveling behind them, a white Nissan, failed to stop and struck their car in the rear.
As soon as the incident occurred, the occupants of the white Nissan jumped out of the car and fled the scene. Cpl. Mike Lewis of the Rocky Mount Police Department said witnesses reported that the three black men and a black women were seen abandoning the vehicle when the event occurred.
The victims were transported to the hospital where they were treated for minor injuries. Lewis said the incident is still under investigation.
