Gunman robs dollar store

Employees were robbed at gunpoint at about 8:50 p.m. Tuesday at the Dollar General on the 1000 block of West Raleigh Road.

Rocky Mount police arrived to find that two employees reportedly had been robbed by a black man with a handgun wearing black clothing who took an undetermined amount of cash from the store. Rocky Mount police set up a perimeter and pursued the suspect with a K-9 officer but were unable to apprehend the suspect, Rocky Mount police Cpl. Mike Lewis said.

No employees were injured in the incident, Lewis said.
