A Rocky Mount teenager was reportedly slightly wounded by gunfire on Saturday as he was walking on Mercer Street.
Cpl. Mike Lewis of the Rocky Mount Police Department said a 17-year-old male went to the magistrate’s office Saturday about 12:20 p.m. to report the shooting, which allegedly happened soon before that time. Officers met the victim at the magistrate’s office, Lewis said.
The victim reported that he was walking north on Mercer Street toward Marigold Street when he heard gunfire nearby and then felt pain. He then realized that he had been struck by gunfire and received what Lewis described as a minor injury. The victim said he did not see where the shots came from and did not know the identity of the shooters.
