The Nash County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of the man whose body was found Wednesday in Stony Creek near Nashville.
The man has been identified as 45-year-old David Patrick Crawford, originally of Waxhaw. Chief Deputy Brandon Medina of the Nash County Sheriff’s Office said the man may have been staying in a motel in the Rocky Mount area in recent days.
Crawford’s body was discovered in Stony Creek near U.S. 64 and Womble Road close to Nashville by employees of the Creedmoor-based Locklear Boring Co, who were doing work Wednesday for the town of Nashville.
Medina said when the body was discovered, it appeared to have been there less than a day or so and was affected by the frigid weather conditions on Tuesday night, which dipped into the low teens. However, he would not speculate if weather played a factor in the man’s death.
“At this time there appears to be no evidence of foul play,” Medina said. “An autopsy will be conducted to provide additional information but has been delayed because of the recent inclement weather.”
Medina also said the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about Crawford’s death or recent activities prior to his death is asked to call the Nash County Sheriff’s Office at 252-459-4121.
