Rocky Mount police recently arrested three men suspected of stealing more than $11,000 worth of items from a local business that were later recovered by authorities.

Tyrone Hunt, 42, of Lumberton, Russell Hunt, 40, of Pembroke, and Robert Walder, 46, of Lumberton, all were charged with two counts of felony and breaking and entering, one count of conspiracy to commit burglary, one count of damage to property and first-degree trespassing.

Cpl. Mike Lewis of the Rocky Mount Police Department said officers responded to call about 3:30 a.m. Saturday of a break-in at Hines Equipment Co. at 1751 S. Wesleyan Blvd. Lewis said officers later set up a perimeter around the business and caught the suspects in the act of stealing the items.

Authorities were able to recover the stolen items and seized the Cadillac Escalade that was being used by the suspects, Lewis said.

Lewis added the investigation is ongoing and police are working with other agencies because there has been a rash of break-ins at other locations across Eastern North Carolina.

“We’re working with other agencies now to see if they’re related to other cases,” Lewis said.
