Nash County deputies nabbed three out-of state suspects Tuesday who now face an assortment of drug, weapons and fraud charges involving gift cards.

Deputies with the Nash County Sheriff’s Office Highway Interdiction Team conducted a vehicle stop for a traffic violation about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at mile-marker 145 on Interstate 95. As deputies approached the red passenger vehicle with Virginia plates, they noted a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, which was occupied by three men.

As deputies searched the vehicle, they found a small metal grinder with marijuana residue inside as well as three concealed semi-automatic handguns. A continued search of the men revealed a large number of gift cards, later determined to be fraudulent. Deputies also located a hand-held card skimmer, two altered identification cards and a laptop inside the car.

Capt. Eddie Moore of the Nash County Sheriff’s Office said the gift cards had somehow been loaded with funds and the Sheriff’s Office is examining the skimmer and the laptop to determine exactly how the fraud had been perpetrated.

As a result of the incident, deputies arrested Joseph Michael Pascall of Covington, Ga. and charged him with felony identity theft, felony possession of more than five counterfeit instruments, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia.

Kanton Tolber Pryor, also of Covington, Ga. was arrested and faces the same charges.

Jerry Lynn Ladler, also of Covington, Ga. was arrested and charged with felony identity theft, felony possession of more than five counterfeit instruments, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia and misdemeanor carrying a concealed gun.

All three men were jailed under $43,000 secured bonds each in the Nash County Detention Center. Their first court appearance is scheduled for today in N.C. District Court in Nashville.
