Rocky Mount police have one suspect in custody and are looking for another in connection with an armed robbery that took place Sunday at a business in Rocky Mount.
About 5:13 p.m., the Rocky Mount Police Department received a call from the Boost Mobile Store at 1346 West Raleigh Blvd. about a robbery in progress. Police officers responded and managed to set up a perimeter surrounding the store. Police were told that two black men entered the store with handguns and were robbing the store.
During the course of the robbery, one victim at the store was physically assaulted by one of the suspects, Cpl. Mike Lewis of the Rocky Mount Police Department said. However, Lewis would not comment on the nature of the assault.
After police arrived, officers spotted one of the suspects running down the 800 block of Nashville Road. The suspect, Terrance Daniels, 29, of Sharpsburg, was captured. Lewis said some of the stolen items and the handgun used in the robbery were recovered at the time of the capture.
“We don’t often get to capture a suspect so soon after the commission of the crime, but it worked out this time,” Lewis said.
Daniels was arrested and charged with two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon. According to court records, Daniels has previously served time in prison for robbery with a dangerous weapon. He is being held in the Nash County Detention Center under $500,000 bond.
Rocky Mount police are still seeking a second suspect described only as a black male between the height of 5’6” and 5’9”. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 977-1111 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
