Man stabbed during altercation

A Rocky Mount man was stabbed about 6 15 p.m. on Monday during an altercation at his home.
Dennis Cornelius Williams, 50, was assaulted on the 500 block of Dexter Street. Cpl. Mike Lewis of the Rocky Mount police said the man’s wounds were consistent with a stabbing but were not considered life-threatening.
Lewis said Rocky Mount police were called to the residence on Dexter Street and found two men engaged in an fight. Both men appeared to be intoxicated. An investigation revealed that Williams had been wounded by a knife, and he was transported to a nearby unnamed medical facility for treatment.
Lewis said the matter is still under investigation and no warrants have been issued yet in connection with the incident.
