A Rocky Mount man is being sought on multiple charges in connection with an incident Sunday in which he reportedly fled a traffic stop and struck a house on Hammond Street.

A man driving a white 2013 Hyundai Sonata fled from a traffic stop Sunday on Sunset Avenue, but police did not pursue the car, Rocky Mount police Cpl. Mike Lewis said.

However, the car was located about 1:45 p.m. Sunday when it struck a house at 1301 Hammond St. By the time police arrived, the vehicle was empty. No one in the home was injured in the accident, but about $2,500 of damage to the home was reported.

As a result of a preliminary investigation, police have issued warrants for Kevin Devonte Cooper, 25, of Rocky Mount. Cooper faces charges of larceny of a motor vehicle, aggressive driving, driving without a license and hit-and-run.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 977-1111 or crimestoppers@rockymountnc.gov.
