Traffic stop leads to cocaine bust

A traffic stop Tuesday in Nash County ended with a Florida man being arrested on drug charges.
Deputies conducted a traffic stop at 8:13 a.m. on the northbound lanes of Interstate 95 near mile marker 137. A search of the vehicle, a 2017 Nissan, uncovered 269 grams of cocaine with a street value of $40,000. The driver, identified as Joseph Charles Baker, 42, of Sanford, Fla., was arrested and charged with felony possession of cocaine and trafficking cocaine.
Baker was jailed under a $50,000 secured bond in the Nash County Detention Center. Court records did not show Baker’s next court date at presstime.
