Teenagers face weapons charges

Two Rocky Mount teens were arrested Sunday following a traffic stop.

Members of the Rocky Mount Police Department’s Problem Oriented Response Team on routine patrol stopped an unidentified vehicle at 2:20 a.m. at the intersection of the 1600 block of Sunset Avenue and Beal Street for a traffic violation.

A search of the vehicle uncovered two firearms, one of which was found to have been stolen. As a result of the discovery, police arrested two of the vehicle’s occupants, identified as Elijah Harrison and Qadarius Grimes, both 17, of Rocky Mount. 

Both teens were charged with possession of a handgun by a minor, possession of a stolen firearm and carrying a concealed weapon before being jailed under $20,000 secured bonds in the Nash County Detention Center .
