Man wounded in shooting

A shooting in Rocky Mount Tuesday morning sent a local teenager to the hospital.

Rocky Mount police responded to a report of shots fired just after 7 a.m. at a house on the 1300 block of Sycamore Street. They said when they arrived, they found a 17-year-old teen suffering from gunshot wounds.

The victim was taken to Nash General Hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening wounds before being transported to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville for further treatment. Hospital officials said Wednesday morning that the victim was listed in critical condition. Police said they are looking for two men in connection with the case but did not immediately have descriptions or the suspects’ identities.
