Handgun stolen from vehicle

A vehicle break-in Thursday resulted in the theft of a handgun and ammunition worth more than $800.

Police responded to a report of a larceny from a motor vehicle at 8:17 a.m. at a house on the 900 block of Leggett Road. They said the victim told them the vehicle had last been known to be secure at 2 a.m. Thursday. They added the break-in was discovered later that morning when the victim woke up.

A handgun worth $650 was taken along with ammunition for a .40-caliber handgun worth $100 and a pair of ammunition clips also worth $100. A weed trimmer worth $339 also was reported taken.
