Business operator Stephanie Braswell will be joined at 10 a.m. today by officials of the Town of Tarboro and Carolinas Gateway Partnership to announce the opening of NBSF Consulting Inc. and the creation of 225 jobs.
Norris Tolson, CEO and president of Carolinas Gateway Partnership, said NBSF Consulting will operate a call center in downtown Tarboro in the former Headway Corporate Resources facility at 115 E. Church St. A ribbon-cutting will be held at 10 a.m.
Braswell, who is actively interviewing to fill her jobs, is a Rocky Mount native.
“I am excited to be starting my business in Edgecombe County and the Town of Tarboro,” she said. “Being born in Rocky Mount, it’s the place where I first learned to walk and the place I first learned to dream. I am pleased that I can come back home and give back to the community I love.”
Tolson said Braswell is on a tight timeline to get staff hired.
“Based on her contract, she’s got to be up and running by Oct. 1, and she’s actively hiring and training so they can be ready.”
But the 225 new jobs doesn’t tell the entire story.
Tolson said that based on contracts Braswell has in hand, NBSF Consulting will need to find space to house an additional 600 employees.
“We have contracts as far out as 2023 and in January, we will begin hiring for three of them (clients) to start in July,” Braswell said. “In all, it will be well over 1,000 employees.”
She said that those jobs, just like the initial 225, will be based in Edgecombe County.
Tolson said Braswell’s company and leadership team will be based in Tarboro.
“We’re very pleased NBSF Consulting chose Tarboro,” he said. “We believe this will be a good fit and be beneficial to both the company and the town.”
Braswell said initially, she simply wanted to locate her business in the county, but as she looked and met with officials, Tarboro moved to the forefront.
“Everybody was so friendly and welcoming … so helpful,” she said. “It just felt like home.”
