Driver killed in single-car crash

A southeastern Nash County man is dead as a result of a weekend single-vehicle crash on a rural route slightly more than a mile northwest of Sharpsburg, the state Highway Patrol said.

Calvin Narron, 48, was alone and driving a car northwest on Mill Branch Road when the wreck occurred early Sunday morning, a patrol dispatcher in Raleigh told the Telegram. The patrol received the call at approximately 12:25 a.m.

The dispatcher said the patrol found the car had crossed the center line, gone off the left side of the pavement and overturned. The dispatcher said his information is Narron was dead at the scene.

Trooper L.M. Caskey responded and the patrol remained at the scene until approximately 2 a.m.

The dispatcher said Narron had lived in the 400 block of Medlin Way, which is a Rocky Mount address but is northwest of Sharpsburg.
