Nash board to hear airport update

The Nash County Board of Commissioners is set to receive an update on the airport Monday afternoon, among other items of business.

Commissioners are scheduled to hear new information on the Rocky Mount-Wilson Airport from Airport Director Dion Viventi and board members Charles Mullen, a Nash County appointee, and Garry Hodges, a Rocky Mount appointee.

The commissioners also will officially be introduced to new Nashville Town Manager Randy Lansing.

State District Court Judge Anthony Brown will present information on the district’s Drug Court.

Commissioners will consider a resolution to designate U.S. 264 a Scenic Byway.

Officials with the state Transportation Department will be on hand at the meeting.

Nash County Health Director Bill Hill will seek approval for the permitting of a Yard Waste Disposal Site at the county landfill.

Each commissioner will share with the rest of the board any updates or items of interest from the various boards and committees on which they serve.

The board is scheduled to meet at 1:30 p.m. in the Commissioners Conference Room on the third floor of the Claude Mayo Jr. Administration Building at 120 W. Washington St. in downtown Nashville.
