The Rocky Mount Event Center will host the Maximum Cheer and Dance competition at 10 a.m. Sunday in the 75,000-square-foot field house.

This will be the first youth sports event to be held at the state-of-the-art facility, and in line with the holiday season the theme of the event will be “Mistletoe Madness.” The event is expected to bring hundreds of visitors to the downtown Rocky Mount community.

“We are thrilled to have Maximum Cheer and Dance at Rocky Mount Event Center as one of our first youth sports events,” said Chip Hutchinson, sports and sponsorship manager for the Event Center.  “This organization has expressed interest in continuing to host multiple events in Rocky Mount at our facility, and we’re focused on starting a tradition and growing our partnership with them.”

Admission to the event is $18 per ticket with free admission for children age 3 and under. Guests who bring in a blanket or coat to donate will receive a discounted admission price of $15 per ticket. The blankets and coats collected will benefit “One Warm Coat” charities and a portion of the admission fees will go to gyms on the east coast most affected by Hurricane Matthew.

Maximum Cheer and Dance provides events for youth and adults from all kinds of communities and backgrounds to come together to enjoy a fun, safe, family-centered environment of competition, according to a press release from the Event Center. The organization has hosted enough events to know that coaches, judges, parents and cheerleaders prefer the experience in this environment as a competitive event.

Maximum Cheer and Dance hosts events throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Maryland, Virginia, Florida and Georgia, which allows easier access for competitors, their families and spectators to attend.
