Teen killed in car crash

Rocky Mount police are investigating a weekend traffic fatality.

Police officers responded to the scene of a wreck at 7:30 a.m. Sunday on U.S. 64 near the Atlantic Avenue exit.

"When officers arrived, they found a 19-year-old white male deceased on the scene," said Sgt. Brad Summerlin, public information officer for the Rocky Mount Police Department. "At this time, we are not releasing the victim’s identity until notification can be made with the family."

The teen succumbed to his injuries sustained during the wreck, Summerlin said.

The crash is under investigation by the Rocky Mount Traffic Reconstruction Unit.
