A fire on Sunday destroyed the Macclesfield Rural Volunteer Fire Department’s fire station.

The blaze broke out about 9:30 a.m. at the station at 104 South 3rd St. and destroyed four of the department’s vehicles. Macclesfield Fire Chief Teddy Stamatis was able to save a tanker truck.

Firefighters from nine other area fire departments responded to the blaze.
