A longtime owner of a heating and air conditioning company has expanded his services in the area.

Solomon Maryland has owned Solomon Maryland Heating, Ventilating & Air Conditioning Service for 17 years in Rocky Mount. He opened a new heating and air conditioning supply store on Saturday called Concept 1 Heat/AC Sales & Services at 1629 W. Raleigh Blvd.

The 4,500-square-foot building that used to be a former body shop consists of a 6,000-square-foot showroom with the remainder of the building being warehouse and office space. Maryland said he spent $8,000 to get the building up to code.

Maryland said the new store offers local contractors and everyday customers a wide variety of products from filters, floor registers, return grilles as well as  new and used HVAC systems and other items. It will also have two employees who will be responsible for helping customers find everything they need to complete their HVAC projects, while also maintaining stock, taking inventory and other duties.

Maryland said he has long desired to offer customers in the Twin Counties quality heating and air supplies and services at fair prices.

“I’m a public servant, who served my country for 21 years and the local government for 10 years,” Maryland said. “I love serving people. It’s my desire to provide the citizens of Rocky Mount and surrounding areas with quality HVAC services and parts at an affordable cost. I’ve been dealing with people that charge people with ridiculously high prices.”

Maryland said his hope in this new business venture is to also teach each customer how to reduce their utilities expenses while increasing their home comfort simultaneously.

“My true goal is to reach people that by weatherizing their home and upgrading their HVAC system to a higher tier unit that they can save up to 30 percent on their utility cost yearly,” Maryland said. “This in return would pay for the investment over a 10-year span.”

The Saturday opening celebration featured free grilled food and drinks. Concept 1 Heat/AC Sales & Services is open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information, call 252-210-3088.
