The state is planning to open a license plate agency office in southern Nash County.

The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles is seeking applicants to operate a new license plate agency in southern Nash County, which includes the towns of Bailey and Middlesex, said DMV spokesman John Brockwell.

“The division is opening this new location to provide another option for customers,” Brockwell said.

The division is also looking for a applicants to operate a license plate agency in nearby eastern Wake County. The existing agency is located on North Arendell Avenue in Zebulon. Its contract is ending.

The DMV opens applications to operate a new license plate agency whenever a contract expires, ends or the need arises to add a new agency to a specific area, Brockwell said.

License plate agencies offer vehicle registration services and title transactions, as well as vehicle license plate renewals, replacement tags and duplicate registrations.

There are 126 license plate agencies in operation statewide.

An application is attached to the online version of this story.

Completed applications must be returned to the division no later than June 7.

Anyone interested in applying or anyone with questions can call the division at 919-861-3332.
