Most schools to delay opening on Tuesday


Local schools willoperate on a delayed schedule Tuesday due to the forecast of inclement weather.

Due to the threat of hazardous road conditions, Nash-Rocky Mount Public Schools will operate on a two-hour delay on Tuesday.

Essential personnel should report to work on their normal schedule. 

Edgecombe County Public Schools will operate on a three-hour delay Tuesday due to expected road conditions.

Most private schools in the Twin Counties will also operate Tuesday on delayed schedules.

New Life Christian Academy will operate on a two-hour delay with classes beginning at 9:50 a.m. Faith Christian School and Rocky Mount Academy are also operating on a two-hour delay Tuesday.

Our Lady of Perpetual Help has not yet announced a delay, but parents of students attending the school should check with school officials.

At least one local charter school is delaying classes on Tuesday. Rocky Mount Prep School will operate on a three-hour delay Tuesday. North East Carolina Prep has not yet announced a delay but normally follows the times listed for Edgecombe County Public Schools. However, parents should check with the charter school for up-to-date information.

Colleges in the Twin Counties are also postponing classes Tuesday.

Edgecombe Community College, Nash Community College and the Child Development Center on the campus of Nash Community College will open at 10 a.m. on Tuesday,

N.C. Wesleyan College will be closed for evening classes tonight at the Rocky Mount, Goldsboro and Durham campuses. All classes will resume on these campuses at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Adult studies students taking classes at community colleges throughout the state should follow closing plans of those locations.
