Schools on delayed schedule due to extreme cold

From staff reports

Monday, January 1, 2018

Most area schools will be operating on a delayed schedule on Tuesday because of plummeting temperatures.

Nash-Rocky Mount Public Schools sent out the following announcement late Monday afternoon: “Due to frigid temperatures and the inactivity of our transportation equipment over the break, it will be necessary for Nash-Rocky Mount Public Schools to operate on a two hour delay on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018. This will afford all transportation professionals an opportunity to ensure a safe start up. Parents please ensure that your children are properly dressed and supervised for the frigid weather.”

Edgecombe County Public Schools later announced that they will be operating on a three-hour delay on Tuesday.

Rocky Mount Preparatory School will also be operating on a two-hour delay. However, New Life Christian School will operate on a normal schedule. For information on other area schools, please check with the school’s website for further announcements.
