N.C. Wesleyan College’s Homecoming Week 2017 kicks off Thursday with the theme “We are Wesleyan.”

The celebration will be packed with events for alumni, students, faculty, staff, friends of the college and neighbors in the community.

“We are so excited to welcome our Battling Bishops back to campus,” said Rebekah Cain, director of alumni relations. “There are so many wonderful things taking place at N.C. Wesleyan, and we can’t wait to show our alumni how much their beloved alma mater has grown and transformed over the years.”

Friday’s highlights include the Alumni Golf Outing, Alumni Reunion at the Rocky Mount Mills and the Alumni Award Reception at the Dunn Center for the Performing Arts. Festivities continue into the evening with Bishop Bowling Night and a Bonfire.

The Homecoming football game kicks off at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bishop Stadium with the Wesleyan Bishops taking on the Ferrum Panthers. Battling Bishop Blast will be held prior to the game, starting at 11 a.m. in the stadium parking lot. The event will include bounce houses, corn hole, food, music and tailgating. The 2017 Homecoming Court and the 2007 Championship football team will be recognized at halftime.

The men’s soccer team will face Ferrum at 2 p.m. at Scalf Field followed by the women’s soccer team taking on Averett at 4 p.m.

“The Alumni Relations team is so thankful for the support we’ve received from local businesses, churches, hotels and radio stations in the City of Rocky Mount,” Cain said. “The city has shown so much support as we all prepare to welcome the Battling Bishops home.”

Other game-day activities include an alumni brunch and campus tours beginning at 9 a.m. at the Rachel T. Dix Bookstore; the baseball and softball teams will host their alumni reunions on campus; and the Celebration of Excellence dinner will be held honoring the new Hall of Fame inductees.

Sunday wraps up the weekend with a special worship service at 10 a.m. in the Leon Russell Chapel.
