People in the Twin Counties will have another option to choose from when buying bedding.

Maryland-based Mattress Warehouse, which started in 1989 and has more than 200 locations in eight different areas along the East Coast, will officially open a 5,800-square-foot store at 10 a.m. today at 946 N. Wesleyan Blvd. in Rocky Mount. Mattress Warehouse took the spaces of the former Radio Shack and two other closed small businesses, right next door to Lidl grocery store.

Tracy Jones, director of marketing at Mattress Warehouse, said there were several reasons why the company choose to expand in Rocky Mount, including the traffic count at the new location, road side frontage and demographics of the region.

“We’re confident that this is a great opportunity for our company’s continued success,” Jones said. “Mattress Warehouse recognizes that Rocky Mount is an underserved market, and we look forward to providing customers with a better night’s sleep.”

Jones said customers will find that Mattress Warehouse carries the largest selection of name-brand bedding, including Tempur-Pedic, iComfort, Stearns and Foster, Sealy, Airelooom, Kingsdown and more. The new Rocky Mount store also will carry a large variety of adjustable bases, headboards, frames and accessories such as pillows, protectors and sheets.

“Mattress Warehouse is changing the way that people shop for mattresses through our use of bedMATCH, a sleep diagnostic system that recommends the beds that are best suited for a person’s individual support needs,” Jones said. “This use of science and technology takes the guesswork out of buying a mattress, and combined with our extensively trained staff, results in a very positive customer experience.”

Jones added there are still many employment opportunities, including both full-time and part-time positions, from store management to delivery drivers. All interested candidates can apply at jobs@sleephappens.com.

Mattress Warehouse is open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
