A wreck Wednesday morning in western Nash County sent one person to the hospital.
N.C. Highway Patrol Sgt. S.C. Kirby responded to a report of a wreck at 10:40 a.m. at the intersection of West Old Spring Hope Road and N.C. 581. He said a 1989 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by Michael Dunston, 58, of Spring Hope, was rear-ended by a 2013 Kia Optima driven by Jessica Barnes, 21, of Rocky Mount.
Kirby said Dunston was stopped at the intersection, waiting to turn left onto West Old Spring Hope Road when his car was hit from behind by Barnes’ car. He said Barnes had two children in the car — a 5-year-old child and a child under 1-year-olds — when the wreck happened, adding no one was injured in the incident.
Dunston was taken to Nash UNC Health Care to be checked out.
Barnes was charged with failure to reduce speed and failure to properly restrain a child because one of the children was wearing a seat belt instead of sitting in a booster seat.
