Area schools will operate on a regular schedule Thursday as today's rising temperatures work to clear roadways of residual ice and snow.

Nash-Rocky Mount Public Schools and Edgecombe County Public Schools lost three days this week due to slick road conditions. However, students and staff members will return Thursday in time to slip in a couple of days of learning before Monday's holiday.

Both school systems are waiting to decide on whether school make-up days need to be scheduled. These days will be announced as soon as they are determined.
