Letter to the Editor: Performance deserves kudos

Wednesday, May 15, 2019

Congratulations to the Theatre Department of the Parks and Recreation Department for another fine production. “The Last Five Years” was outstanding and showcased the amazing talent of Mary Beth Cameron and Zachery Rayburn.

The lovely Booker T. Theatre was a perfect venue for this two-person cast and it was brilliantly directed by Benjamin Griffith of the Imperial Centre staff. We are so fortunate to have such a talented and professional group of people who are committed to bringing live performances to the city of Rocky Mount. The 2019-20 season will include a Staged Reading Series, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Black Nativity and the world premiere of Donor 63125. Everyone in this community should purchase a season ticket ... the price is so affordable and the quality is excellent!

Plan now to see the Summer Youth Production of Annie (July 19-20 and July 21) at the Imperial Centre. We are so fortunate that our young people will have the benefit of working with the incredibly gifted Brooke Edwards, Benjamin Griffith and Will Stacey. The young actors will enjoy an experience of a life-time and who knows, we may see some of them on Broadway one day. It is happening now for Rocky Mount’s own Malcolm Armwood and it could certainly be a dream come true for one of our young stars.
