Letter to the Editor: Bring back women's clinic
Friday, May 25, 2018
Thank you Mary Ann Kannon May for inspiring me to write this letter expressing concern and support for Rocky Mount Gynecology and Women's Health Drs. Adkins, Brantley and High.
I have been a patient of Dr. Adkins for 28 years and I entrusted my primary health care to this practice for most of these years. Dr. Adkins saw three generations of my family.
Mary Ann is correct when she says the doctors talk with you and always answer any questions or concerns. The staff is personable and professional and do not deserve to lose their jobs. I have never had an issue contacting the practice for questions or help and I don't need a computer to get my lab results or prescriptions.
These three doctors are local men who left Rocky Mount to pursue their education and then returned to give back and serve their community. They raised their families here and live in our neighborhoods. All three have been outstanding stewards of medicine to the benefit of many women in Rocky Mount. It's not always about money, sometimes it's about loyalty and what's really right!
If we want mega-medicine, we fortunately can go to Raleigh, Chapel Hill, Winston-Salem, Durham or Greenville. But we live in Rocky Mount and want to be able to support our local doctors and small practices. I can only hope Nash UNC Health Care will reconsider and beg these people to continue serving Rocky Mount women.
