Letter to the Editor: Historical Society launches campaign for Stonewall Manor
Sunday, February 4, 2018
The Nash County Historical Association is excited to announce a capital campaign for the complete restoration of Stonewall Manor.
The challenge is to raise $200,000 to accomplish this goal. Our campaign recently received an initial contribution of $10,000 from the Bryanna Foundation of Rocky Mount that starts this endeavor with great excitement. We have received several other generous contributions since first announcing our campaign and we sincerely hope that the community at large will join us in helping to preserve one of the most recognized landmarks in our area.
Stonewall Manor is in need of major repairs and renovations to survive into the future. With the continued revitalization of the downtown area and more specifically, the Brew Mill area of Rocky Mount, the timing for our own revitalization is now.
We have secured estimates from licensed historical restoration contractors. These estimates are all encompassing for the work that needs to be done to bring the Manor back to pristine condition: new roof, major exterior renovations, repairs and painting, interior repairs and painting, grounds updating and tree removal.
The Nash County Historical Association receives no support from any local or state organizations, only private contributions. So we desperately need your help to achieve the goal of this campaign. Please contribute and ask others to do the same by sending a tax-deductible check to:
