MONDAY'S PREP ROUNDUP: Southern Nash softball tops SWE

A 7-2 game through four innings, Southern Nash softball (3-1) more than doubled that output with eight runs in the fifth inning on Monday in Pinetops, eventually topping SouthWest Edgecombe (1-2) by a 15-3 tally in five innings.
Taylor Bailey and Alissa Bailey led the way on offense for the Firebirds with three hits each; Kierstin Cooper and Caroline Winstead added two each.
Southern Nash will look to improve to 4-1 on the season with a road game on Wednesday against Cleveland.
Rocky Mount Academy 4, Freedom Christian Academy 0
After a scoreless first five innings, the Eagles (2-0) broke through on Monday at home with four runs in the sixth inning for the 4-0 win over FCA.
RMA improved to 2-0 on the season after opening with a 16-0 win over Arendell Parrott Academy on March 6. The Eagles next host Ridgecroft on Wednesday.
J.H. Rose 12, Rocky Mount High 2
Rocky Mount High softball (0-3) allowed 12 runs over the first four innings in the 10-run road loss to J.H Rose on Monday. Both of the Gryphons’ runs were scored in the fourth inning.
RMHS will look to get its first win of the season on Wednesday against Nash Central.
Southern Nash 8, Nash Central 0
The Firebirds (4-1), hosting Nash Central (1-3) on Monday afternoon, were led by Nef Gonzalez and Brisa Sevilla, who had three goals each, while Jada Zimmerman added the other two in the home non-conference victory.
Southern Nash 7, Nash Central 2
Southern Nash boys’ tennis (5-0) stayed perfect on the season with the win over Nash Central at home on Monday. Dylan Alligood, Hector Perez, David Vasquez, Adolfo Gonzalez and Michael Hernandez all added singles victories for the Firebirds.
In an NCISAA 2-A match played Monday at Henderson Country Club, Rocky Mount Academy finished in first place with a score of 121. Faith Christian, with a score 148, finished fifth.
The Eagles were led by a score of 37 from Paul Larimer while a score of 43 from Connor Vick led the way for the Patriots.
