TUESDAY'S PREP ROUNDUP: SWE girls top Nash Central

SouthWest Edgecombe (18-3, 6-1) led Nash Central (4-16, 0-7) at home on Tuesday night by four points after the first quarter and by seven at halftime, outscoring the Bulldogs 10-2 over the final eight minutes for an eventual 15-point victory, 49-34.

The Cougars have now won eight of their last nine games and trail only undefeated Farmville Central in the Eastern Plains standings. SWE will have a chance to take down the Jaguars on Friday at Farmville Central.


Wilson Fike 46, Northern Nash 45

On the road in Wilson on Tuesday night, the Northern Nash girls’ basketball team dropped a close Big East contest. The Knights (9-10, 5-3) entered the night one game out of first place in the Big East.

The game was close throughout, with the Knights holding a 17-16 lead at halftime. They led by two points with a minute left, at 45-43, but Wilson Fike scored the final three points for the Big East victory.


SouthWest Edgecombe 66, Nash Central 63

A close contest throughout, Nash Central (6-14, 3-4) outscored the Cougars by five points in the final period to make it a three point game, but SouthWest Edgecombe (11-10, 4-3) came away with the Eastern Plains victory.

Farmville Central remains atop the conference with an undefeated record at 21-0 overall and 7-0 in EPC play.

Northern Nash 69, Wilson Fike 57

The Knights (20-1, 8-0) won their 20th straight game on Tuesday night.
