The Northern Nash boys’ basketball team, playing for the first time in a week on Tuesday, picked up its second win of the season in a home non-conference game against rival Nash Central.

The Knights had little trouble in completing the 58-39 win over the Bulldogs. Northern Nash (2-1) held a 32-14 halftime lead.

Nash Central (0-3) lost its third consecutive game, though each of its three losses came against larger schools playing in Class 3-A — Rocky Mount High, Southern Nash and the Knights, respectively.

The Bulldogs will get another shot at the Firebirds on Friday when they meet in Bailey.

The Bulldogs picked up their first win of the season and needed overtime to do so.

Nash Central (1-2) came close to securing its first win in a Nov. 30 contest against Southern Nash, but lost by one point. This time, the Bulldogs found a way to win the close game.

This was the most points the host Knights (0-4) have scored this season.
