Rocky Mount police are asking for the public’s help finding out who has been shooting at occupied houses this month.

One shooting happened in the early morning hours on Tuesday in the Kings Way mobile home park in the West Mount area of the city.

Police Sgt. Brad Summerlin said someone fired bullets at a trailer house in the 100 block of King Charles Court while a man was in a bedroom asleep.

Summerlin said among other instances of gunfire, one happened in the early morning hours of July 16 as a woman was in the back of her residence in the 200 block of Smith Street in South Rocky Mount. Summerlin said bullets entered beside the front door.

Summerlin said on the evening of July 12, two women were sitting in a bedroom in the 200 block of Hendricks Street just south of downtown when bullets entered that same room.

Residences are hardly the only places where shots have been reported fired.

Summerlin said in the early morning hours of July 8, a man was driving a car in the Cokey area and a driver of another car was following when the driver of the first car heard gunfire.

Summerlin said the windshield of the first car was struck, but the only other information available was the second car was dark in color and mid size. The incident occurred in the 1300 block of Proctor Street.

Anyone with additional information about these cases or any crimes in the area is asked to contact police at 252-972-1411, Crime Stoppers at 252-977-1111 or crimestoppers@rockymountnc.gov

Tips also can be texted to police at 274637 by beginning messages with RMPOL to direct the tip to the Rocky Mount Police Department and by typing up to 155 characters about the information.
