The Nash-Rocky Mount Board of Education is seeking a new chief communications officer in the wake of the resignation of Patricia Hollingsworth.

Hollingsworth has served the Nash-Rocky Mount school district for five years, earning her doctorate degree in educational leadership and administration along the way.

Hollingsworth will be leaving Nash-Rocky Mount Public Schools on Sept. 9. In a recent interview, Hollingsworth said her immediate plans are to serve in a similar communications role in Durham Public Schools after her current term has ended.

Hollingsworth’s resignation follows the resignation of former Nash-Rocky Mount Public Schools Superintendent Shelton Jefferies, who resigned effective Aug. 2.
