The South Atlantic Region of North Carolina Garden Club Inc. recently hosted its Annual Meeting in Greenville.

The Rocky Mount Garden Club and Englewood Garden Club participated in hosting this year’s “Welcome to Our Tea Party”, with the other club members in District 12. After the business meetings, elected officer meetings and committee meetings finalized, the attendees enjoyed a Flower Show, numerous workshops and Senior and Youth Awards Banquet.

It was a fun-filled, educational weekend for all. Scott Mason of “The Tarheel Traveler” hosted a luncheon with the group. He spoke of his past experiences leading up to his becoming “The Tarheel Traveler,” the role he is most known for. He walked the room through some his most memorable clips. He spoke about penning several books, small story format. After telling how he came to put the stories to paper, he offered to sign and personalize each one purchased. Other workshops included The Nature Conservatory, The National Audubon Society and several club affiliated workshops.

The vendor sales room was busy with raffle sales, hand crafted arts and pottery and paintings. The Rocky Mount Garden Club displayed the numerous items up for grabs in their 2019 raffle fundraiser.

The Rocky Mount Garden Club was recognized for a Junior Garden Club that will officially begin in August. It has been a busy year for the club. The season wraps up with the annual luncheon in May to celebrate the club’s year in review and introduce the new slate of officers for their 2019-21 seasons. Meetings welcoming guests will start back in the fall with a full year of activities and field trips planned. The club will enjoy its last field trip in late April with a trip to the Whirligig Park in Wilson followed by lunch at the Something Different Café.
