Mary Shuping, director of government relations for the N.C. Community College System, delivered the keynote address at the Jan. 3 spring semester kickoff for Edgecombe Community College employees.

Shuping discussed the 2019 legislative agenda for community colleges, which includes a focus on short-term workforce training programs and initiatives to close the skills gap.

“Ms. Shuping provided valuable insight into the most pressing needs of the community college system, and we are grateful for her willingness to travel to Tarboro and help us begin our spring semester,” said ECC President Greg McLeod. “With the new year, there are new dreams, new goals and new opportunities — and we are anxious to get started.”
