The Children’s Ministry paused recently to have a little fun at the Family Fall Fun Fest at The Impact Center.
Families of infant children through fifth grade were invited out for games, food, fellowship and entertainment while the Youth Ministry (grades six through 12) and its investors served as volunteers for the event.
Depending on who you ask, “family” may be considered to be relatives by bloodline only. Word Tabernacle Church strives however to break up this monotony with every ministry opportunity. When the song “We Are Family” is sang on Sundays during the welcoming and greeting of visitors and members, it is taken to heart and applied by ministry leaders.
The recent Family Fall Fun Fest hosted by the Children’s Ministry is a notable example.
“I believe this event was just a breath of what is yet to come from the Children’s Ministry here at Word Tabernacle Church,” said Children’s Programming Director Ayona Cooper.
Children and their families engaged in activities such as a cake walk, apple bobbing, line dancing, pumpkin tic-tac-toe, crafts, bean bag toss, pumpkin memory game, poke a pumpkin and more. The highlight of the afternoon was the finale activity, “Pie A Pastor,” during which names were drawn and children were given the opportunity to pie a pastor of their choice. The pastors demonstrated good sportsmanship and displayed the Proverb: “A joyful heart is good medicine.”
“The support from our investors, leaders, families and community truly put our vision statement into action. We want to always show support and love for one another in a safe and exciting environment.” Cooper said. “The leadership, presence and participation of our pastors filled our children and families’ hearts with delight as we continuously strive to create a culture of family and cohesion.”
Senior pastor the Rev. James Gailliard often reminds the congregation of Word Tabernacle Church that the first institution designed by God was family.
“Thriving communities are a result of thriving families and thriving relationships,” he said.
Minister Kyle Johnson, associate pastor, plans for the student ministries to host a quarterly Family Fun Fest.
