Richard Fennell, export compliance manager at UTC Aerospace Systems in Wilson, recently visited with members of the PFLAG-Rocky Mount Chapter to express support for PFLAG’s scholarship program for area youth.

Fennell announced $400 in employee donations from the company’s PRIDE Employee Resource Group. He also announced a corporate match of $400 for a total gift of $800 to the chapter’s scholarship fund.

“We are pleased to contribute to PFLAG’s wonderful initiative to recognize area youth who are working in their schools and communities to move equality forward,” he said. “These young people are models of courage for all of us, and we applaud their accomplishments.”

Susan Ayers, president of PFLAG-RM, thanked Fennell and expressed special appreciation for the donation.

“We greatly value our association with Richard and members of the PRIDE Employee Resource Group at UTC,” she said. “Their strong interest in our scholarship program reflects their special understanding of our organization’s mission as we partner to provide more education and understanding of issues facing our gay youth and their families.”

PFLAG-RM officers were special guests of the PRIDE Employee Resource Group during their June luncheon meeting program focusing on the 45-year history of PFLAG National.
