Rocky Mount High School’s Gryphon Theatricals this week will perform their Spring musical, “The Wiz.”

From L. Frank Baum’s classic story, “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz,”this timeless tale of Dorothy’s adventures through the Land of Oz is a fun, family-friendly, modern musical with a dazzling mix of rock, gospel, and soul music.

The production is directed by New York City actress and ECU alumna Kristin Lundberg, who is a native of Rocky Mount and the granddaughter of Brick Lundberg, founder of Sandy’s.

“The artistic vision of our show is 1970s Candyland. In Kansas, everyone is dressed in black and white and once transported to the Land of Oz, there is an explosion of color and texture,” Lundberg said.

Performances will be heldat 7 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday in the Black Box Theater at Rocky Mount High School.

Tickets are $8 for the general public and $5 for all students. For more information, email kalundberg@nrms.k12.nc.us or visit www.gryphontheatricals.weebly.com.
