USDA honors Edgecombe's Willis

Holly Willis, a program technician in Edgecombe County, was named the recipient of the USDA Farm Service Agency District 6 Employee of the Fourth Quarter.

Farm Service Agency’s District 6 includes Martin, Washington, Tyrrell, Dare, Hyde, Beaufort, Pitt, Wilson, Greene, Craven, Pamlico, Carteret, Edgecombe, and Nash counties. Debbie Houston serves as the FSA district director for District 6 and said she is delighted to present this award to such a dedicated employee as Willis.

The purpose of this award is to recognize employees who have provided extraordinary customer service within the agency and demonstrated an extra effort to serve customers. As the recipient of this award Holly will receive a Certificate of Recognition and a Time-Off Award.

Holly began her FSA career 32 years ago in Pitt County. She served Pitt County farmers for five years before moving to the Edgecombe County FSA. Holly’s primary responsibilities are assisting farmers with Market Assistance Loans, Loan Deficiency Payments and Farm Loan programs. She also has Administrative and Farm Records responsibilities for the Edgecombe County FSA office. Holly has also served on a National Jump Team to help program specialists with designing the Price Support software used to process Marketing Assistance Loan for farmers.

Outside of the office, Holly is a devoted mother of two sons, James, 23, and Noah, 19. Holly loves to work in her flower garden or go fishing during her free time. She is an active participant and advocate of The Autism Society of North Carolina and Alliance of Hope for suicide loss survivors.

Farm Service Agency’s mission is equitably serving farmers, ranchers and agricultural partners through the delivery of effective, efficient agricultural programs for all Americans. FSA strives to provide the farmers of Edgecombe County with outstanding customer service. Holly is a prime example of the extraordinary service displayed by FSA employees throughout North Carolina.
