The Rocky Mount Parks and Recreation department will celebrate the bond between mothers and sons again this year with the Mother & Son Dance from 6 to 9 p.m. Feb. 9 at the Imperial Centre.

“Lasty ear, we had a wonderful response to the dance. We look forward to what the 2018 dance will bring,” said Heather White, recreation supervisor for the city of Rocky Mount. “The mother and son relationship is very important for a young man, and this dance is a great way to highlight that.”

The event is for women with sons ages 5 to 15. Tickets are available in advance for $25 per couple. Additional sons are $5 each.

Heavy hors d’oeuvres will be served. Music will include a live DJ and solo artist Evan J.

“When you think about it, a king’s first queen is the woman who raises him, whether it be his mom, grandma or another female role model,” White said.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Parks and Recreation Scholarship Fund. For more information or to register, call 252-467-4925.
