The three-hour historic tour of Rocky Mount scheduled for today has been cancelled.

City officials cited low participation for the cancellation, saying they needed a minimum amount of participants to conduct the tours.

Two other previously scheduled tours led by Downtown Development Manager John Jesso took place Friday. Stops included areas in downtown Rocky Mount, N.C. Wesleyan College, Nash Community College, Nash UNC Health Care and Rocky Mount Mills. All participants were transported from the Station Square parking lot.

The tours were offered as part of the city’s 150th anniversary celebration and in conjunction with the 10th annual Eastern Carolina BBQ Throw Down.
