The Rocky Mount Mills will host one of its two remaining free outdoor summer concert series today.

The Mills, which has partnered with Schoolkids Records and WUNC on the “Mill Music Sessions” at the Rocky Mount Mills, will feature special music guest Dom Flemons. The Grammy award winning musician, singer-songwriter and poet will perform from 7 to 9 p.m. on the lawn of the Mills’ campus.

Flemons is also co-founder of the Carolina Chocolate Drops, an African-American string band from Durham that won a Grammy for its 2010 album “Genuine Negro Jig.”

Mills’ officials encourage people coming to the event to bring lawn chairs and blankets. Food trucks and beer vendors open at 5:30 p.m. and opening act Gerald Bunn will perform from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Non-alcoholic beverages also will be available.
