DURHAM — Less than a minute into Duke’s much-anticipated game against North Carolina, Blue Devils forward Zion Williamson suffered a knee injury while trying to plant with the ball. He was being defended by Luke Maye at the top of the key.

The injury was to his left leg, and caused his shoe to rip from its sole. Williamson then limped off the court. Later in the first half, it was announced via Duke basketball’s Twitter account that he would not be returning to the game.
